Quantum Dot-Based Highly Sensitive Immunoassays for Multiplexed Diagnostics of Alzheimer’s Disease

NANOGNOSTICS is a collaborative project funded within the seventh framework programme of the European Commission (EC). Seven research institutions and two industrial partners pursue the aim of developing a rapid, sensitive and specific diagnostic test for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. The project is coordinated by the NanoPolyPhotonics group at the Fraunhofer IAP and research and development is carried out in Finland, France, Germany, Israel and Scotland. The NANOGNOSTICS team comprises highly skilled research groups and technology-leading SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) in the fields of Nanotechnology, Clinical Diagnostics, Biosensing, Ultrasensitive Spectroscopy, Time-resolved Immunoassays, Ultracompact Solid State Lasers and Luminescence Spectrometer Development. The project with 36 months duration has started in October 2009 and has an overall budget of ca. 5.3 mio. Euros from which ca. 4 mio. Euros are funded by the EC.
